Hello Ladies- Last week could have had the potential of being emotionally exhausting. I was traveling away from home for most of the week, and one of the events was a Memorial for the husband of our beloved Excelle sister Jalene Spain Thomas. It was pouring and windy, as if Mother Nature was setting the stage for our grief. However, the moment I saw Michelle Odell in our Excelle meeting spot, my spirits lifted and were buoyed by witnessing the enduring power of how women show up for each other. Tesha McCord Poe had saved an entire row for other Excelle women, Ryann Fapohunda graciously offered her office for luggage storage and a place to change, and the network of familiar Excelle faces (current and former) was a testament to the quality of human beings that you attract. Our Philly Meetup was led by the gracious hospitality of Marcy Sosa and Nate Hall, two members who continue to prioritize Excelle in their lives, and it shows. The tone of the conversations that afternoon was so empowering, women listening with care for what seemed most important to reflect back to each other as leaders. One guest joked, “I think I can skip my therapist this month – that felt amazing!” I returned home even more energized, and I was inspired by these comments that have stayed with me.
