Farewell February - Membership News & More

Hello Ladies-

You know that I love a good “glimmer’ moment, an opportunity for people who are gathered to share small or large moments that make them smile. I am grateful to the Excelle members who lead this activity with confidence and good humor, as it allows our guests to relax and see how we engage with depth and a playful spirit.

I want to expand on my glimmer. I shared that I am so fortunate to collaborate with women for a majority of my professional days, and I was reminded at NAIS of how frustrating it can be when men waste precious air time providing extra detail that could have been spent on making deeper connections among colleagues. I do not wish to generalize that all men are this way, but I will say that I had a moment of tension that reminded me of a dynamic that I wanted to counter in creating Excelle.

My NEW glimmer is a 90 minute walk and talk that I took with Pete Commons, the lawyer who has helped negotiate several contracts for Excelle women and who continues to find ways in which we can collaborate. We covered so many topics: how we met our partners, family dynamics, insecurities, what makes us crazy, how hard parenting is…and I left with gratitude for the feeling of authentic partnership with a person who values the impact of what Excelle creates in the world. Indeed, Pete introduced me to several other men throughout the conference who bring a level of influence that could be critical in helping Excelle reach its potential.

This week, we had the rare privilege of gathering in-person during NAIS. With old friends reconnecting, new relationships building, and plenty of laughter in between, nights like this remind us that making space to show up as we are deepens community and connection. And yes, we’re giving special attention to shoes. Because as Roger Vivier says, “To wear dreams on one’s feet is to begin to give a reality to one’s dreams.”

You’ll leave with simple, practical tips: build around one piece you love, invest in great basics, buy what works in every color, and dress for the weather, the occasion… and most importantly, for you. Style isn’t about labels, it’s about being yourself. And sometimes, it starts from the ground up.
