JYOTI PATIL:
Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer

Having first joined Excelle as a member, Jyoti brings a distinctive blend of business strategy, community building, and communications leadership to her role as Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer at Excelle, drawing on her professional expertise and firsthand experience as a member.

Jyoti has more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning corporate retail and independent school education. Early in her career, she held merchandise planning roles at Ross Stores, Inc. and Macy's, where she led large-scale growth initiatives, including the expansion of the men's division from 50 to 200 stores nationwide and the national launch of Macy's $12 million Martha Stewart product line.

She later brought that rigor to The Dalton School, partnering with senior leaders to drive strategic communications and institutional initiatives. Her accomplishments include helping lead crisis communication efforts, a full website redesign, doubling the school's social media presence, and launching a Head of School podcast, while serving on the school's accreditation steering committee, AI taskforce, and faculty and staff life board committee.

A respected thought partner in independent school communications, Jyoti co-chaired the NYSAIS Advancement and Communications Conference Planning Committee and holds a B.A. in Economics from Brandeis University.

A first-generation South Asian-American raised between cultures, Jyoti has spent much of her career reflecting on the intersection of identity, leadership, and belonging. Her leadership philosophy is grounded in the conviction that there is no single model of leadership and a commitment to creating spaces where women can lead authentically. As the parent of two daughters educated at The Brearley School, she has seen firsthand the transformative power of mentorship and strong female role models.

At Excelle, Jyoti guides the membership journey, advances strategic growth opportunities, and oversees the communications and branding for the organization. She is committed to helping women in educational leadership build meaningful connections that expand their influence and realize their potential.
